My Green Jacket

Hi again & Happy New Year everyone! It's been a while since my last post. The 2010 year end was a really buzy time for me, so much going on & so little time for sewing. But here's my green jacket. Take me months to finish it, but in the end, i'm really satisfy with it :)

I love the style of this jacket especially the collar. The fitting is great too. Also love the attached belt-like detail across the waistline. And the cute DIY fabric buttons too.

Not in the pictures: I used a darker green shade, plain satin for the lining.

I use Simplicity 3962. I got the inspiration from the green jacket pictured on the pattern envelope, since i have that similar fabric in my stash. I really wish i have extra fabric to sew the skirt too so i can get a complete suit like shown. I love this pattern. Read my pattern review.

I want to thanks to all my blog readers for keep encourage me to sew even im not being so productive lately. I really appreciate all ur lovely emails & kind comments. Thanks a lot and to all sewing blogger everywhere, hope we gain more knowledge, inspiration & friendship in this new 2011. C ya! :)

Happy New Year!
I have been waiting for your blog to turn up on my Google Reader :)
You are so good! To make your own jacket..it's a great fit and well done! I think your colleagues' jaws will drop if they knew you made this jacket. I am really in awe. May I know what fabric did you used and how many yardage and where to source such fabric? I have still yet to sew anything for myself - just sewing for my little girl.

sertyan~ u're sweet! :) actually, is not as easy as it seem. jacket are among the hardest garment to sew. time-consuming with advance technique. i did mess up some part like double interfacing on the front pieces. the fabric? i honestly dont know what type of fabric it is (nothing written on the selvage). I'm guessing it some type of wool? I used 2 meters for this jacket. i bought it randomly long time ago at the local "kedai kain kaling" which i forgot the name. i believe its available in KK too, look out at suiting fabric section. i really do encourage u sew for urself. the cute dresses u made for ur girl (so cuteeee!!) show that u got everything it takes to sew one. Good luck! :)

What a lovely shade of green! I love it when people make jackets in non-neutral colors. And it's so flattering on you. Happy 2011 to you too!
