As mention in my last blog post, here's my baby Bella's baptism gown.
Just a simple baby dress & bonnet. Made from 2 layers of fabric, white satin & white chiffon. Both layers drape beautiful together. The dress & bonnet is actually quite small on her. I have cut the fabric since she was about 2 month old during my maternity leave, thinking the size will be alright on her, without knowing when is the baptism ceremony will be held. But she grew up sooooo fast. Almost outgrew this gown & bonnet when the baptism date finally arrive.
The gown has upper yoke, gathered skirt and pleated on the side, short sleeve with elastic. It suppose to have lace trims on almost all the seam but i didn't include it. The beautiful floral pattern on the front yoke is for embroidery but i prefer to do beading. I also add white satin ribbon trim on the chiffon hemline.
The simple bonnet is also made with satin & chiffon layers. I add chiffon ruffle for girly look. She didn't wear it during the ceremony, since it was so warm in the church. Which is fine, since it was also very small on her.
I use McCall 1098, a vintage pattern for the gown & bonnet. You can see mine is tear apart. But the pattern is still in very good condition. It even have a iron-on transfer pattern for the embroidery work.
The beading work I did on the upper yoke.
Some photos from the ceremony.
Motherhood is so awesome! I love seeing Bella grow up so fast, day by day, week by week, month by month. She is almost 8 months old, and has developed her own character which is so amusing for me & DH. She the cutest, cheeky, cheerful little baby. My life had been blessed with so much joy since she's here with us.
By the way, this is actually my 100th post for this blog, since my first post on Nov 2008. This blog has reach about 100K page view to date. I'm thankful that I've received a lot emails from inspired reader. And I hope to sew more in the upcoming many years.
